There will be a (final) lecture this week.
See y'all in class!
Intro to Translation for Third Year (Ethno)Linguistics Students, Michael Farris Institute of Linguistics Adam Mickiewicz University
For this week you'll need three things.
The original text of Kochany Loluniu!
This English translation of same.
The translation that you worked on.
See y'all in class!
Apparently, grilling sausages is the university's new mission (replacing the idea of educating students) so there is only class on Tuesday this week.....
We'll be going over the versions of Before/After that you received in class last week.
Each group should be ready to present their analysis of the translation (5 to 10 minutes).
You should either send me your presentation first or be able to access it on the class computer (or have it on a pendrive).
If you're (still!) not sure of what to include, this guide I made for groups two and three might be helpful. It's not required for the Tuesday group but can serve as a basic kind of guide.
See y'all in class! (at least on Tuesday)
For this week you will need
the original text of Before/After.
Here are the texts for group one.
Here are the texts for group two.
Here are the texts for group three.
And....
Here is the worksheet for groups two and three.
When you finish the worksheet, post it at the usual location (deadline Jun 05, 2023 at 20.00)
See y'all in class!
Sadly, due to circumstances beyond my control, class today has been cancelled.
But... not all is lost!
Here are the notes and (my) answers to the questions on the story 'Gradation'. If you have any particular questions then we will address it in class next week.
Otherwise, next week we will talk about Before/After next week.
Also, remember the deadline for this assignment is rapidly approaching!
See y'all in class (next week!)
Okay, after a few.... interruptions... we are back on track!
So, for this week
Tuesday (Group one): Class is cancelled (this is the class I'd hoped to cancel last week before I also had to cancel Wednesday... trust me, next week everyone will be in sync!
Wednesday: Class is on! You will need two things (which you already have!).
The first is the original text of Gradation.
The second is your particular translation.
Also, everybody in all groups needs to remember this assignment, the deadline for which is rapidly approaching!
See y'all (in groups two and three at any rate) in class!
This week there are no classes... due to me being kidnapped and taken to a conference in Kalisz (send help!)
But cheer up! There is a new assignment! But the deadline is a little further away....
Here is the new assignment. The deadline is May 28, 2023 at 20.00
The link to post your translation is below the jump (click where it says 'czytaj więcej').
