Intro to Translation for Third Year (Ethno)Linguistics Students, Michael Farris Institute of Linguistics Adam Mickiewicz University
First, I forgot to post these intro notes on audio-visual translation. So... here they are! Enjoy!
Second, we will have a lecture this week (with luck notes will be posted later).
This week everybody (Tuesday and Thursday) will need the following two things:
The original script from the Golden Girls.
The subtitle instruction guide. (you probably already have these, but...)
For Thursday, students will need this set of translations.
I will post the equivalent for the Thursday students on Wednesday.
See y'all in class!
Here is some background and instructions (please read carefully).
Here is a video of the entire episode (poor quality but what I could find) of the entire episode.
The part you are translating starts at 15.22 (edited somewhat).
As usual you may work alone, in twos or threes....
The deadline is Sunday May 29, 2022 at 20.00.
The page to post it is below the jump (click where it says 'czytaj więcej').
This week we begin audio-visual translation.
I will do an introductory lecture this week.
Notes from the lecture and the first assignment will be posted Thursday afternoon.
See y'all in class!
For this week, basically just Tuesday since Thursday class was cancelled..., you'll need the original of 'Kochany Loluniu'.
You'll also want to bring your own translation of the text.
See y'all in class!
These week we will have student presentations on the translations of Before/After.
I will also present my analysis of the excerpt from Kochany Loluniu.
nb. the reference numbers for Before/After translations are here.
See y'all in class!
No class this week. Instead I will have office hours from 13.15-14.45 in 212Bc.
See y'all next week in class!
